Our Programs

When you share your family with a high school exchange student you are giving them a view of America that will make a profound difference in who they are and how they relate to Americans. You, in turn, get a glimpse into their life and customs. That’s just the beginning of the extraordinary benefits hosting brings to families, students, and the world.

Terra Lingua USA believes in the importance of allowing students and host families a chance to experience another culture firsthand. Our programs are offered to highly motivated international students from 15 to 18 years old who are interested in promoting global understanding, and experiencing personal improvement and academic excellence. Our students are thoroughly vetted prior to their acceptance into our programs. They must prove their English proficiency, academic and social achievements, and level of maturity and skills to successfully adapt to life in the U.S..
During their program students are expected to maintain specific standards of academic achievement and social interaction. They are required to perform community service and make classroom presentations. We encourage all students to visit our website as we post important messages and notes here such as news and events, program requirements and fun activities.

Host families and schools are rewarded by gaining knowledge of another country, as well as a new friend! We invite you to experience, learn, and share TODAY!

Terra Lingua USA and the US Department of State take foreign exchange student safety, well-being and successful participation in our program seriously. If an issue with an exchange student in the U.S. arises, please let your Representative know. The Department of State can also be reached toll-free at 1-866-283-9090 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Participant Testimonials

It was something I'm very glad I did. Being completed immersed in a culture forces you to adapt and learn. My host family was wonderful and I was paired up nicely. I can't begin to explain how much I learned of the language, people, culture, etc. If one truly wants to learn about another country, I think that this is the only way to do it." Ashley W.
